Research

Interdisciplinary research is a combination of three sets of research methods with the aim of designing a complete system for monitoring and management.

1. Determining the current state of integrity of structural elements (diagnostics) for which it is necessary to:
  • Develop an algorithm to optimize the placement of sensors and vibration exciters of the monitoring system
  • Develop a procedure for the detection, localization and quantification of fatigue damage in laboratory conditions
2. Determining the permissible load regimes of structural elements based on the assessed state of integrity in order to ensure a defined service life of structural elements, which includes:
  • Experimental study of fatigue behavior of materials
  • Development of inverse and statistical models for determining unknown model parameters from measurement results
  • Development of numerical algorithms for modeling the deformation process of experimental samples and estimating the allowable loads and fatigue of the structure.
3. Upgrading the existing control system with algorithms based on prediction and mathematical programming techniques in order to preserve the permitted operating modes
  • Validation of a new monitoring and control system on laboratory models
  • Application of the system on real construction components of power plants and means of transport.
